Quinn Lewis

American saxophonist Quinn Lewis is currently a third-year student at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he studies both classical saxophone performance and music education. He recently won 3rd Prize in the 2009 Music Teachers' National Association Woodwind Young Artist competition in Atlanta, GA, and was also awarded the coveted Eastman School of Music Performer's Certificate, a special recognition of excellence in solo performance. In addition to playing baritone saxophone with Red Line, Quinn regularly performs in the esteemed Eastman Wind Ensemble and has performed as a soloist in Rochester and New York City. He is an active performing member of the Ossia New Music Organization, regularly premiering and performing diverse works of young, up-and-coming composers as well as 20th century masters. As a strong advocate of new saxophone music in particular, Quinn has collaborated with or commissioned works from composers Robert Morris, Baljinder Sekhon II, Robert Pierzak, Luis Pena, Andrew Colella, Oliver Hagen, and John Libertore. He recently placed 1st in the 2008/2009 New York State MTNA Young Artist Winds competition. As an instructor, Quinn has held successful woodwind studios in both the Rochester and Philadelphia areas. He is currently in the saxophone studio of Chien-Kwan Lin and aspires to do his post-graduate study overseas.
