-The Red Line Sax Quartet has won 1st Prize at the 2009 Fischoff National Chamber Music competition, the largest and most competitive chamber music event in the country!

The competition began with a taped audition in two rounds, with over an hour of music prepared for the event. Then, there were four more live rounds: quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals, and "grand" finals. Each round is roughly 20 minutes long, and at each different stage the judges choose varying portions of the 1-hour program. The live rounds were held at University of Notre Dame from May 8-10. Our group, as is our practice, performed all rounds by heart.

Out of over 100 groups which originally applied, the Red Line Sax Quartet won the Gold Medal in the Senior Winds Division of the competition, holding a prize of $3000. This has been a dream of ours since we began playing together, and marks the most significant achievement of our quartet career to date. We are so happy and proud to bear this prize on behalf of all who have helped us so much, including you.

-Red Line Sax Quartet won 1st Prize ($3000) in the Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition! The finals round was held on March 28th, 2009 in Atlanta, GA. 75 groups of all types competed in this event nationwide. This is a milestone in Red Line's career, it is their biggest competitive win to date.

-The Red Line Sax Quartet recently made its first concerto appearance with Branford Marsalis and the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra: March 7th and 8th, in a performance of maestro Kim Allen Kluge's Vocalise for sax quintet and strings.
